When is the best time to look for work?
The main recruitment wave starts as early as September, hotels prepare for the high season (November–April). With more flights, Phu Quoc is becoming a year-round destination.

When to fly to Phu Quoc?
The best time is the dry season from November to April, the sun shines almost every day, the sea is calm and clear, and underwater visibility reaches 15 metres. The peak is December–March, with temperatures of 27–33°C and almost no chance of rain. May–October is the monsoon season with short, intense downpours, but there are far fewer crowds and prices can be 30–50% lower. The short tropical showers usually last about an hour and don't ruin the whole day.
What is the weather like on Phu Quoc?
Phu Quoc has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons. Dry season (November–April): air temperature 27–33°C, minimal rainfall, clear skies and a calm sea. Rainy season (May–October): short, intense downpours, usually in the afternoon or evening, temperatures 28–32°C, and an occasionally rough sea, especially in September and October. The sea stays warm all year, around 28–30°C.
What currency is used and how to pay conveniently?
The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Rough rate: 1 USD ≈ 25,000 VND, 1 PLN ≈ 6,000 VND. It's easiest to exchange cash locally, at the airport or in exchange offices in central Duong Dong. Cards are accepted in hotels, larger restaurants and chain stores, but markets, street vendors and local eateries run on cash. Always keep small notes on you.
Is Phu Quoc safe for tourists?
Phu Quoc is one of the safest places in Southeast Asia. Crime against tourists is extremely low. Take basic precautions in crowds at markets, don't leave valuables unattended on the beach, and ride carefully on a scooter, especially on unpaved roads inland. Essentials: SPF 50+ sunscreen, mosquito repellent at dusk, and a hat in the midday sun.
Can I use my phone and the internet on the island?
Yes, without any problems. Local SIM cards (Viettel, Mobifone, Vietnamobile) are available right at the airport or in any shop in town. A 20–30 GB data package for 30 days costs just 5–10 USD. 4G/5G coverage is excellent across the inhabited part of the island, only deep in the National Park can it be weaker. Free Wi-Fi is available in all hotels, cafés and most restaurants.
Which local dishes are a must-try?
A list of culinary must-eats on Phu Quoc: bánh mì with local fillings (better than anywhere else in Vietnam), bún quậy (a unique local fish soup), grilled crab and lobster straight from the ice at Dinh Cau night market, hu tiếu (seafood noodles in an aromatic broth), gỏi cuốn (fresh spring rolls with shrimp), nước mắm Phú Quốc (the famous fish sauce made only on the island for generations), and all the tropical fruit, mango, passion fruit, dragon fruit and rambutan straight from the crate.
